Compact finishing systems with cross-cycle conveyor |
|
A flexible alternative to vertical – and P + F – conveyor systemsToday, classical finishing systems mainly work with single chain or double chain P + F conveyor systems. These systems require a lot of space, mainly when long crossbeams / flight bars loaded with long work-pieces are involved. These systems require rail switches, curves, ascents, descents a.s.o. , requiring lot of space. Because of the long crossbeams oven doors are opened for considerable time when entering or leaving the ovens , when using longitudinal conveyor systems . This is not ecological nor economical.
With a new conveyor system of SEF there is no need for rail switches. The crossbeams, up to 8 m long, will be conveyed laterally thru the whole process, never longitudinally . Tie crossbeams with the work-pieces are hanging loose on the chains both sides of the process components. The cross cycle time depends on the required capacity. Up to 20 crossbeams can be processed in a 3-minute cycle tru the system. |

In the pre-treatment section the loose crossbeams ( flight bars ) with the jigs loaded with work-pieces can be lowered into the spraying tanks. Typically, 3-4 baths are required for steel, or 4-6 baths for aluminium, when using a new environment friendly nano-ceramic process. Per bath section, about 1 m is required, only.
Because the crossbeams are conveyed laterally also in the powder application section, the powder booth must be mobile. The crossbeam with the work-pieces stands still, but, the powder booth will moove. For quick colour change in few minutes several powder booths can be installed . But, SEF has availabe a fast automatic cleaning system, which allows to clean the powder booth in a few minutes. At the water drier after the pre-treatment as well as at the curing oven the crossbeams enter vertically from below and exit vertically from above. Therefore, no doors are required at all to prevent hot air to exit. Therefore , the heat losses are minimized. Of course , loading and unloading is performed with still standing crossbeams. In contrast to vertical profile coating lines also large flat work-pieces can be loaded such as gates, doors, separation walls, ceiling tiles or also short profiles . Even very small work-pieces or very large plates can be coated. So,this system is very much more flexible in operation than a vertical profile line. In view of the over- capacities in vertical profile coating, this is a considerable advantage. |

Summary of advantages of the cross-cycle process : - Compact design, low production area as compared to P+F – systems - Low installation height, as compared to vertical systems - High product flexibility as compared to vertical systems - Manual touch-up possible, not possible with vertical systems - Fast colour change by automatic booth cleaning , with vertical systems very difficult. - Simple conveyor system without rail switches, easy maintenance - Low heat losses ( water drier and curing oven ) - More even heat distribution in height as compared to vertical systems - More even pre-treatment conditions as compared to vertical systems |
